US Stimulus Americans

U.S. Stimulus Stalled, Government Shutdown Avoided For Now

Can you say insane? “This is just the normal pain associated with getting to a final solution,” Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, told reporters.

Normal pain? My friend, this is not normal. In real life, you get shit done or you walk. Who the hell has time to go through pain. I think the United States has seen enough pain.

“It’s not a done deal yet, but we are very close,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said and said again, and again.

Sen. Bernie Sanders briefly delayed proceedings in the Senate for another call for $1,200 direct payments but withdrew his objection after a quick speech, and the vote continued.

On Thursday, President Trump prepared to issue a statement calling for stimulus payments of “at least” $1,200 per person or as much as $2,000 per person, officials told The Washington Post. But this plan was shot down by aides as it would stall COVID relief deal negotiations even more, according to the report.

So, where are we?

  • Congress passed a two-day spending bill Friday night, avoiding a partial government shutdown and buying more time for the ridiculously slow negotiations on an almost $1 trillion COVID-19 economic relief deal.
  • Congress will likely spend the weekend bickering over the details of a proposed $900 billion economic rescue bill that reportedly will include a second stimulus check for $600 or $700 each for qualifying adults and dependents, according to multiple reports.
  • Another government shutdown deadline looms on Sunday if lawmakers fail to strike a deal on both a government funding bill and an economic relief package.
  • Lawmakers are expected to vote by Sunday at 1PM.

We will update this story and release any developments taking place in the House as they happen over the weekend.

  1. I’m disgusted with both sides clearly they don’t care about the American people. It’s very clear Old Bag Nancy and the rest of her side only cares about them selves. This truly why we need terms limits
