The U.S. Department of State, through its Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, has announced a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of Guatemalan drug trafficker Haroldo Waldemar Lorenzana Terraza, also known as “Haroldito.”

The announcement, made on March 25, 2025, is part of the Narcotics Rewards Program (NRP) and is being offered in coordination with the Government of Guatemala, which has issued a separate reward of 50,000 Guatemalan Quetzals for Lorenzana Terraza’s capture.

Lorenzana Terraza is a known member of the Lorenzana drug trafficking family based in La Reforma, Guatemala.

According to U.S. authorities, the organization has long-standing ties to several Mexican cartels, including the Sinaloa Cartel, which the U.S. recently designated as both a Foreign Terrorist Organization and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist entity.

Since 1996, the Lorenzana organization has allegedly been responsible for coordinating the transportation, storage, and distribution of multi-ton shipments of cocaine originating from Colombia and moving through Central America and Mexico en route to the United States.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has conducted an extensive investigation into Lorenzana Terraza, resulting in two indictments filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. A superseding indictment also charges Lorenzana Terraza with operating a Continuing Criminal Enterprise (CCE)—a high-level charge typically reserved for major drug kingpins—and includes four additional co-defendants.

“This reward exemplifies our continued commitment to dismantling transnational drug trafficking organizations that endanger the safety and health of Americans,” said a State Department spokesperson. “It also demonstrates our strong partnership with Guatemalan authorities in bringing criminals like ‘Haroldito’ to justice.”

The reward is part of a broader international effort supported by the Narcotics Rewards Program, which is aimed at disrupting global narcotics networks and aligns with President Donald J. Trump’s “America First” national security agenda.

The DEA is asking the public to submit any relevant information through secure and confidential channels:

All tips will be handled with strict confidentiality, and government employees are not eligible for rewards.

Authorities urge anyone with information about Lorenzana Terraza’s whereabouts to come forward, emphasizing the global importance of removing high-level traffickers from the drug trade pipeline.
