U.S. Marshals Capture Fugitive In Michigan Wanted For Sex Crimes in Tennessee

A coordinated effort between the U.S. Marshals Service in Tennessee and Michigan led to the arrest of Cedric Joseph Howell, a 39-year-old fugitive wanted for rape and incest in Trenton, Tennessee.

Howell was charged on September 12, 2024, after an investigation by the Trenton Police Department and the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services.

The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force (TRVFTF) in Jackson, Tennessee, was then tasked with locating and apprehending him.

The TRVFTF discovered that Howell had fled to the Detroit area and shared this information with the U.S. Marshals in Michigan. On September 20, deputy marshals tracked Howell down to a store in Pontiac, Michigan, and arrested him. He is currently awaiting extradition back to Tennessee.

The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency team operating in Western Tennessee. It has been instrumental in capturing over 2,600 violent fugitives and sexual predators since 2021.
