Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.

U.S. GOP Senators Cruz, Daines, Colleagues Introduce Bill to Reverse Biden’s Anti-Energy Action, Authorize Keystone XL Pipeline

The Keystone XL project has also undergone extensive environmental review and is the safest and most environmentally friendly way to transport oil., according to GOP Senators.

This project is expected to provide approximately 11,000 direct high-paying jobs and up to 60,000 indirect and direct jobs, generate tax revenue, increase renewable-energy demand, reduce emissions and strengthen North American energy independence.

Sen. Ted Cruz said, “President Biden’s misguided decision to cancel the Keystone XL Pipeline with the stroke of a pen cost thousands of hard-working Americans their jobs. I am proud to support congressional authorization for the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline to combat Democrats’ efforts to destroy jobs they simply don’t like.”

“Americans are already struggling to make ends meet and keep food on the table because of the pandemic. Yet with the stroke of a pen, President Biden killed thousands of energy and union jobs, eliminated tax revenue for impoverished communities, raised energy costs for Americans, and put our national security and energy independence at risk. We must reverse Biden’s disastrous decision and send a clear message that supporting American workers is more important than supporting Saudi Arabia and allowing radical environmentalists to cash in on campaign promises,” said Steve Daines R-Mont.

Sen. Cruz has long fought to expand energy transportation and protect blue-collar jobs for Americans, defending the Keystone Pipeline.

In 2019, Sen. Cruz sent a letter, along with Sen. Hoeven and colleagues, urging the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) to preempt the recently-passed Washington State crude-by-rail law, which would have effectively blocked the Pacific Northwest as a destination for Bakken crude oil.

As a member of the Commerce Committee, Sen. Cruz this year questioned Pete Buttigieg, the recently confirmed Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, on the Biden administration’s cancellation of the Keystone XL Pipeline permit and expressed his concerns on the thousands of blue-collar jobs this decision would cost.

Last week, Sen. Cruz also joined Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) in requesting a meeting with President Biden regarding their concerns about the new administration’s recent executive orders and regulatory actions targeting the domestic energy sector and the thousands of good-paying American jobs it supports.

  1. I’m glad Senator Cruz and Senator Sullivan are fighting back. We need to keep this project going.

  2. My kids deserve clean energy. Coal took a dump and oil is soon going to do the same thing. Electric cars and many alternate energy sources are in the works. Republicans need to catch up with the rest of the world. They do not care if our kids lives suck as long as they can put cash in their pockets. These people are shit bags.

  3. Really Jack? What alternate energy sources would that be? It’s not Republicans profiting from oil and the jobs, it’s the American people! There isn’t ONE energy source that doesn’t make the “elites’ money!! You know, those guys that want to rule the world and another thing……who profits from the closing of the pipeline?? Pelosi, for one and she’s a democrat, quit blaming Republicans for the shit the Democrats are doing!! Everything Biden is doing is for their benefit, not ours! Covid is not about your health and climate change isn’t for the good of the planet, get a grip

  4. Such ignorance and only belief in SELECTIVE SCIENCE. You believed Covid-19’s a hoax…but you’re first in line for a vaccine. Will you and your family feel the same way for oxygen tanks when the air is too polluted to breathe? Or will you have enough bottled water to drink and/or wash with because you ignored the signs and allowed pollutants in our waterways and springs?
    Yes, your ignorance is DEADLY.
    ADAPT/EVOLVE/OVERCOME

  5. What about the jobs lost if the pipeline is built? The truckers who are currently moving the oil, the gas stations, truck stops and restaurants they stop at on their runs? Why is it ok for them to lose their jobs?

  6. This guy is always looking for something to complain but he defended orange face on all of his stupid decisions resigned please

  7. Everybody with interest can confirm that the Republican party has attempted to defeat every Democratic Presidents initiatives during thier first 100 days. Voting against everything proposed and making a lot of noise to discredit them every chance they can. This is no exception. When an entire World is pushing against fossil fuel use and the US is trying to curtail a pipe line that more people oppose than want, Cruze and others are out of sync with reality. Big business, oil glut Trump has been dumped. Get used to it. The pipeline and border wall which Trump lined his pockets pushing are both dead. Thankfully.

  8. Only someone who is “progressive” would say such a thing. If you listen to some real facts you would find out that stopping the pipeline increases energy costs (ie. gas) and puts lots of people out of jobs. It would be great if there was a replacement NOW for a similar sum of money, but there isn’t. No one on the republican side of the fence is against clean or better energy. We are against ripping apart what is working for an idea that destroys economical and familial and other factors.

  9. I will never take that vaccine, it makes Bill Gates and Fauci money, bthe virusbis not a hoax, but the severity of it is!!! We have had worse health issues but have never been quarantined, you don’t quarantine well people and the masks are a joke and NIW A FASHION STATEMENT. OOEN your eyes, mine have been for a long long time
