The United States military conducted nine airstrikes in Syria on Monday, targeting Iranian-backed militia groups. The strikes were a direct response to attacks on US personnel in the region over the past 24 hours.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that the airstrikes were successful in degrading the capabilities of the targeted groups, reducing their ability to launch future attacks.

“Our message is clear. Attacks against U.S. and coalition partners in the region will not be tolerated,” said Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, CENTCOM commander. “We will continue to take every step necessary to protect our personnel and coalition partners and respond to reckless attacks.”
