U.S. Coast Guard crews apprehended 18 individuals during two separate vessel interdictions off the San Diego coast this past Sunday evening, April 13th. The operations involved personnel from Coast Guard Station San Diego and the Coast Guard Cutters Sea Otter and David Duren.
The first interception occurred at approximately 6:50 p.m. when a Station San Diego small boat crew stopped a 25-foot cuddy cabin style vessel roughly seven miles south of Point Loma. According to the Coast Guard, eight individuals were found aboard: five adult males and three adult females, all of whom claimed Mexican nationality.

Less than an hour later, at 7:27 p.m., the crews aboard the CGC Sea Otter and CGC David Duren collaborated to interdict a second vessel, an 18-foot cuddy cabin boat, located approximately ten miles west of Point Loma. Ten individuals were discovered on this boat.
The group aboard the second vessel included one adult female claiming South Korean nationality, four male and two female adults claiming Mexican nationality, and three additional males who did not possess identification documents.

Following the interdictions at sea, the Coast Guard took all 18 individuals into custody. They were subsequently transferred to U.S. Border Patrol personnel for further processing.
