The U.S. Navy responded with four destroyers to the coast of Alaska last week after 11 Russian and Chinese warships were spotted patrolling nearby international waters.
Alaska Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan called the size of the Chinese and Russian joint operation “unprecedented” and said the U.S. deployed four Navy destroyer ships near the Aleutian Islands in response.
The destroyers were the USS John McCain, USS Benfold, USS John Finn, and USS Chung-Hoon.

According to the AP, U.S. aircraft were also in the area throughout the combined exercise, which the U.S. had been tracking since it began in July, according to U.S. officials. U.S. Coast Guard ships are also always in the area.
“We have been in close contact with leadership from Alaska Command for several days now and received detailed classified briefings about the foreign vessels that are transiting U.S. waters in the Aleutians,” said Senator Murkowski. “This is a stark reminder of Alaska’s proximity to both China and Russia, as well as the essential role our state plays in our national defense and territorial sovereignty. Incursions like this are why we are working so hard to secure funding and resources to expand our military’s capacity and capabilities in Alaska, and why our colleagues must join us in supporting those investments.”
“The incursion by 11 Chinese and Russian warships operating together – off the coast of Alaska – is yet another reminder that we have entered a new era of authoritarian aggression led by the dictators in Beijing and Moscow,” said Senator Sullivan. “In recognition of this reality and our state’s unrivaled strategic location, for years, I’ve been pressing the Navy and each successive administration to commit to a greater Naval, Coast Guard, and Marine Corps presence in Alaska, more Arctic-capable vessels, and more infrastructure to host these assets, like the deep-water port of Nome.

“Last summer, the Chinese and Russian navies conducted a similar operation off the coast of Alaska. Given that our response was tepid, I strongly encouraged senior military leaders to be ready with a much more robust response should such another joint Chinese/Russian naval operation occur off our coast. For that reason, I was heartened to see that this latest incursion was met with four U.S. Navy destroyers, which sends a strong message to Xi Jinping and Putin that the United States will not hesitate to protect and defend our vital national interests in Alaska,” Sullivan added.
Army veteran Jake Bequette joined ‘Fox & Friends First’ to discuss his take on Biden’s leadership on the world stage as China and Russia send warships near Alaska, slamming the administration’s response.
“The real danger of what the Biden administration is blundering us towards is a closer union between the two great powers of the Eurasian landmass, which are Russia and China,” said Bequette. “It’s really the one thing we can’t allow to happen in terms of larger geopolitics, but of course, that’s exactly what Biden and his handlers have allowed to happen.”
Former Vice President Pence, who is running for president in 2024, also slammed the Biden admin for its weak leadership.

“Under President Biden, Russia, and China threaten to conquer their neighbors & their new Axis is now operating together off the American coast. China & Russia & their ‘no limits’ partnership now conducts joint blue water naval operations off the American coast & the arctic north,” Pence wrote in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
“America needs a new Commander-in-Chief who understands the threat and will build a much bigger navy, new shipyards, and a military fitted to the widening threats of the 21st Century. The enemies of freedom only understand strength,” he added.
