PLANT CITY, FL. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a homicide investigation at Twilight Zone Liquor, 4010 SR 60 E, in Plant City.
Around 10 pm on Wednesday, a physical altercation occurred within the bar area of the establishment. That altercation escalated into a shooting, which continued into the parking lot. A deputy nearby, on an unrelated call, heard the shots and responded to the scene.
Investigators say the deputy witnessed a vehicle leaving the parking lot that soon crashed on SR 60 E just over the Hillsborough-Polk County line.
The responding deputy determined the person in that vehicle was a victim of the shooting, and was transported to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies at the scene located a second victim in the field next to the bar. That victim was taken to South Florida Baptist Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Detectives are looking for the suspected shooter who left in a vehicle heading west on SR 60. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male, about 6 feet tall, medium build, with a goatee and a tattoo on the right side of his neck.
If anyone knows who the shooter may be or any details involving this please contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at 813-247-8200.
