TAMPA, FL. – Two people were seriously injured in a hit and run early Friday morning in Tampa.
According to police, officers were called to Nebraska Ave. and E. Palm Ave., in response to a hit and run traffic crash.
Two people, a man and a woman were riding on a single motorized rental scooter westbound on Palm across Nebraska and were struck.
Through investigative leads, Tampa Police Traffic Homicide detectives discovered Jenalone Sisavat, 23, was traveling northbound on N. Nebraska Ave. and the scooter was traveling westbound on E. Palm Ave.
Police previously stated Sisavat possibly ran a red light, but have since learned the light was not red.
It appears the male driving the scooter, along with the female passenger may have crossed into the path of the driver at N. Nebraska Ave. They were struck by Sisavat, who failed to stop and render aid.
Detectives were able to identify and locate the vehicle involved in the crash.
The vehicle is a silver 2020 Acura sedan. Sisavat has been arrested, charged with Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Serious Bodily Injury, and remains in jail with a $7,500.00 bond. Additional charges pending
Both occupants were thrown from the scooter. They were transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
