Two Men Cited For Illegal Fishing In The Florida Keys: Monroe County Sheriff

MIDDLE KEYS, Fla. – Two men have been issued mandatory court appearance citations after being caught with undersized and out-of-season fish in the Middle Keys. The incident occurred on Monday morning near Mile Marker 72.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Marine Deputy Luis Guiardinu was conducting routine resource checks at approximately 10:45 a.m. when he discovered the violations.

Duniesky Perez Ponce, 40, was found to be in possession of an undersized and out-of-season hogfish. Additionally, he was cited for fishing without a valid license.

Arisley Rodriguez, also 40, was found to be in possession of an undersized mutton snapper.

Both men received mandatory notice to appear in court citations for the violations. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reminds anglers to be aware of and abide by all fishing regulations, including size and season restrictions, as well as licensing requirements.
