Bushnell Woman Killed In Crash With Semi-Truck On SR-50 In Hernando County

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – An 86-year-old Bushnell woman was killed in a collision between a car and a tractor-trailer on State Road 50 in Hernando County on Sunday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 1:49 PM at the intersection of SR-50 (Cortez Blvd) and US-301. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a Ford Focus driven by a 72-year-old Nobleton man was traveling eastbound on SR-50. A tractor-trailer driven by a 66-year-old man from Waterloo, Iowa, was traveling westbound on SR-50.

The driver of the Ford Focus attempted to make a left turn onto US-301 and drove into the path of the oncoming tractor-trailer, resulting in a collision.

Tragically, the passenger in the Ford Focus, an 86-year-old woman from Bushnell, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured.
