Two illegal immigrants have been arrested after being caught stealing from a ‘Habitat For Humanity’ new home that was under construction. This comes during recovery from Hurricane Ian.
On Wednesday night, a Charlotte County resident called 911 regarding male subjects that were stealing equipment from a home under construction and loading the items into a truck.
Deputies from Charlotte and Indian River Counties arrived on the scene with a K9, who immediately began tracking and quickly located both suspects hiding in a nearby wood line.
As the K9 was apprehending one suspect, the other suspect began to kick Tuko repeatedly in the ribcage.
Both suspects were ultimately taken into custody and were later identified and charged as follows:
Odilio Miranda (20 years of age)
- Burglary of a structure during a state of emergency
- Grand theft during a state of emergency
Donis Andi Miranda-Dionincio (16 years of age)
- Burglary of a structure during a state of emergency
- Grand theft during a state of emergency
- Battery on a police dog
The home being burglarized was discovered to be a Habitat for Humanity residence under construction. Both suspects are from the Orlando area and traveled to Charlotte County to look for properties of opportunity.
US Border Patrol is also conducting a parallel investigation due to both suspects being undocumented from Central America.
