Twitter on Sunday permanently suspended the personal account of U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
As The Free Press reported earlier today, the Georgia Republican’s account was nixed because she reportedly violated the tech firm’s policy on COVID-19 “misinformation.”
According to the New York Times, Greene tweeted about “extremely high amounts of Covid vaccine deaths,“ and a misleading” chart that captured data from a government database of unverified raw data.
Newsmax reported, as the Times did not, that Greene’s last tweet before the ban was about Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York.
Last week the left-wing AOC was photographed partying maskless with a cocktail in hand in Miami Beach after she had accused Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of abandoning his post as COVID cases spiked, and as she fled her own state, which was posting a record number of new infections.
DeSantis was actually accompanying his wife, Casey, during treatment for breast cancer.
In her tweet, MTG posted, “@AOC have you apologized to @GovRonDeSantis yet? He has been at his wife’s side while she is undergoing treatments for breast cancer. Since you have a history of demanding apologies, it’s time for you to put down the martinis in Miami and apologize to Gov DeSantis.”
The tweet included screenshots of news reports of times AOC has in fact demanded apologies from others.
The Times reported that Twitter banned MTG after she received a “fifth” strike under its system. Her fourth strike occurred in August, when she was handed a seven-day suspension after claiming the vaccines were “failing” and “do not reduce the spread of the virus & neither do masks.”
The Times noted at that time that the CDC’s guidance said, “Covid-19 vaccines are effective at protecting you from getting sick.”
Now, the talking point has shifted, suggesting MTG wasn’t spreading misinformation but merely prophetic.
The CDC’s website, updated Dec. 23, now says, the vaccine “helps protect adults and children ages 5 years and older from getting sick or severely ill with COVID-19 and helps protect those around them. Some people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will still get sick and have a vaccine breakthrough infection because no vaccine is 100% effective.”
That posting came a couple weeks after the liberal magazine The Atlantic published a piece talking about breakthroughs. “The risks appear to have grown for everyone,” it said in one part. “The pandemic of the vaccinated can no longer be denied.”
“The scope of the coming hardship will depend on how capable Omicron is of causing severe disease and death,” The Atlantic concluded. “A month ago, one could still pretend that burden fell on those who lived in some other place, far away from vaccinated people in vaccinated communities. Now that delusion looks shakier than ever.”
Twitter’s ban on Greene does not affect her congressional account.
In a statement, according to Newsmax, she said in part, “Twitter is an enemy to America and can’t handle the truth.”
“That’s fine, I’ll show America we don’t need them and it’s time to defeat our enemies. They can’t successfully complete a Communist revolution when people tell the truth. Social media platforms can’t stop the truth from being spread far and wide. Big Tech can’t stop the truth. Communist Democrats can’t stop the truth.”
“I stand with the truth and the people,” MTG added. “We will overcome!”
