TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Rays start summer camp today and the regular season is set to begin on July 23-24. MLB has submitted a proposed 60-game schedule to the MLBPA to review.
It has not been finalized as of yet.
To limit travel distances, teams would play a majority of games against their division opponents (40, or 10 against each division opponent) and the rest against their geographic counterpart in the other league (in other words, AL East vs. NL East, AL Central vs. NL Central, AL West vs. NL West). As soon as the schedule is released, we will post it for our readers.
The Tampa Bay Rays projected lineup, according to CBS Sports looks like this:
Projected lineup
- 2B Brandon Lowe
- LF Austin Meadows
- 3B Yandy Diaz
- 1B Ji-Man Choi
- RF Hunter Renfroe
- DH Yoshitomo Tsutsugo
- C Mike Zunino
- SS Willy Adames
- CF Kevin Kiermaier
Bench: OF/1B Jose Martinez, C Michael Perez, 1B Nate Lowe, INF/OF Joey Wendle, OF Randy Arozarena, OF Manuel Margot
The Rays tweeted out this morning, “Turn the lights back on, Welcome Back to Baseball.”
