President Donald Trump released a heartfelt message ahead of Super Bowl LIX, expressing his excitement for the game while honoring the values of unity, patriotism, and resilience that define the American spirit.

The president and First Lady Melania Trump will join thousands of fans in New Orleans to watch the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles compete for the NFL’s coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy.

In his statement, President Trump praised the players, coaches, and staff of both teams, highlighting their dedication and perseverance as embodiments of the American Dream. “Their hard work, dedication, and tenacity is admirable, and their individual journeys are as inspiring as the drive and determination that has led them to this extraordinary moment,” he said.

The president also emphasized the importance of football as a unifying force in American culture. “Football is America’s most popular sport—for good reason—it fosters a sense of national unity, bringing families, friends, and fans together and strengthening communities,” he noted. Trump added that the Super Bowl transcends political and social differences, celebrating shared values of “family, faith, and freedom” that are upheld by the nation’s military service members, law enforcement officers, and first responders.

Remembering the Bourbon Street Tragedy

President Trump took a moment to acknowledge the tragic terrorist attack that struck New Orleans on New Year’s Eve, which claimed 14 lives and left 35 others injured. The attack occurred on Bourbon Street, a iconic location known for its vibrant celebrations.

“While thousands of fans from across our Nation gather in New Orleans to cheer on their favorite team, we remember that 14 families will be missing a loved one who was tragically murdered during a senseless terrorist attack,” the president said. He extended his thoughts and prayers to the injured, wishing them “continued strength, comfort, and healing.”

The president’s message struck a balance between celebrating the joy of the Super Bowl and honoring the resilience of a community still recovering from tragedy.

A Historic Venue and a Great American Tradition

This year’s Super Bowl marks the eighth time the game will be held at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, setting a record for the most hosted by a single venue. The city, known for its rich culture and love of football, is expected to welcome fans from across the country for what promises to be an unforgettable event.

President Trump and the First Lady expressed their enthusiasm for the game, with Trump concluding his message on an optimistic note: “Melania joins me in sending our best wishes for a great Super Bowl Sunday. May the best team win, and may God bless you, your family, and the United States of America.”
