President Donald Trump “exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health” according to a medical memo released by the White House on Sunday, following his annual physical examination. The examination, conducted by United States Navy Capt. Sean P. Barbabella, took place at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday and lasted nearly five hours.
Capt. Barbabella’s memo, addressed to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, highlighted President Trump’s “active lifestyle,” citing his “multiple meetings, public appearances, press availability and frequent victories in golf events.”

The memo provided specific details of the president’s health metrics:
- Weight: 224 pounds
- Blood Pressure: 128/74
- Resting Pulse: 62
- Cognitive Test Score: 30/30
Additionally, the memo noted a scar from the July 13, 2024, assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, where President Trump’s right ear was grazed by a bullet. It also mentioned “benign lesions” on his skin. The president’s current medications include two cholesterol-controlling drugs, a topical cream for a skin condition, and aspirin as a preventative measure.
“President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander in Chief and Head of State,” Capt. Barbabella concluded in the memo.
This physical examination marks President Trump’s first since beginning his second term, following his succession of President Joe Biden. The health and cognitive abilities of former President Biden had been a subject of widespread discussion and scrutiny.

Concerns regarding former President Biden’s health were amplified by a December 19, 2024, Wall Street Journal report detailing how White House aides “insulated” him, even from Cabinet members, as his health reportedly declined. Similar articles were published prior to Biden’s July 21, 2024, decision to withdraw from the presidential race, sparking debate among media outlets.
Questions regarding the White House’s transparency about Biden’s health arose from several incidents. These included instances where Biden claimed to have spoken with deceased world leaders, such as former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl and former French President Francois Mitterrand. In September 2022, Biden also publicly asked about Republican Rep. Jackie Walorski, who had passed away in a car accident weeks prior.
Furthermore, Biden experienced multiple falls during his presidency, including a fall at the Air Force Academy in June 2023, a fall while biking in June 2022, and multiple instances of tripping on the steps of Air Force One. Reports also indicated the use of alternate stairs when boarding Air Force One, among other adjustments, as his administration addressed concerns related to his age.
