Former President Donald Trump joked Friday that he would win the 2024 election if he was just hit with “one more indictment” during a speech before a dinner held by the Alabama Republican Party.

Trump pleaded not guilty to all charges during his Thursday arraignment after Special Counsel Jack Smith secured a four-count indictment of Trump relating to his efforts to contest the results of the 2020 election.

Smith previously secured a 37-count indictment against Trump in June based on an investigation into allegations surrounding classified documents.

“They wanted to wait, and they did wait,” Trump said. “They waited right to the middle of an election and they waited until I became the dominant force in the polls because we’re dominating everybody, including Biden in the polls, and then they filed `em all, every one of of all that essentially one time, including local DA’s and AGs that even other cases right in the middle of the campaign, where we’re leading by so much and that’s not going to make any impact, because every time they file an indictment, we go way up in the polls. We need one more indictment to close out this election, one more indictment and this election is closed out. Nobody has even a chance.”

Trump currently leads Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis in the Real Clear Politics average of polls, 53.1% to 17.6%, with businessman Vivek Ramaswamy in third place with 5.2%.

Legal experts noted that much of the conduct Smith claimed was criminal in the indictment appeared to be protected by the First Amendment. Harvard University law professor Alan Dershowitz said that the indictment attacked not only the First Amendment, but also Trump’s Sixth Amendment right to counsel.

Trump’s top rivals for the Republican nomination for president in 2024, Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida, Republican Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, all condemned the indictment.

Kari Lake Calls On GOP Candidates To Drop Put

After the announcement of the latest indictment against former President Donald Trump, Kari Lake called on all GOP candidates to suspend their campaigns and stand with Trump.

“This is the most egregious case of election interference in the history of our country,” said Lake. “This a battle that a unified Republican party MUST fight. Otherwise, we will lose this country forever. That is why I am calling on all Republican candidates for President to immediately suspend their campaigns, stop wasting hard-earned donor money and rally around our nominee, President Donald J. Trump.”

On Tuesday, a sealed indictment was handed down against former President Donald J. Trump in the grand jury investigation of his attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

Trump announced on July 18 that he received a letter from special counsel Jack Smith on Sunday notifying him he was the target of a Jan. 6 riot investigation and the 2020 election.

The sweeping indictment charges Trump with four counts: conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of an attempt to obstruct an official proceeding on Jan 6, and conspiracy against rights.

Other Republicans took to social media to stand with Trump Tuesday, slamming special counsel Jack Smith’s indictment against him.

“We’ve recently learned:

• Hunter received money from China (contradicting President Biden’s claim)

• President Biden spoke with Hunter’s business associates over 20 times (contradicting what Biden previously claimed)

• Biden’s DOJ tried to secretly give Hunter broad immunity and admitted the sweetheart deal was unprecedented

And just yesterday a new poll showed President Trump is without a doubt Biden’s leading political opponent.

Everyone in America could see what was going to come next: DOJ’s attempt to distract from the news and attack the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, President Trump.

“House Republicans will continue to uncover the truth about Biden Inc. and the two-tiered system of justice,” said House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise said, “Let’s be clear about what’s happening: Biden’s DOJ is cutting sweetheart deals for Hunter to cover for the Biden Family’s influence-peddling schemes while at the same time trying to persecute his leading political opponent. It’s an outrageous abuse of power.”

“It seems like every time we learn more about Biden’s shady business dealings, his DOJ indicts President Trump,” said Senator Rick Scott.
