Former President Donald Trump has found a new GOP presidential primary rival to attack besides Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — and again has turned on someone he once hired.
Trump labeled Nikki Haley, whom he chose to be U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, a “birdbrain” for comments she made about Trump’s 2016 foe, Hillary Clinton.
Trump’s campaign last week began circulating its opposition research into the former South Carolina governor, noting that Haley had once told The New York Times that she ran for office after hearing Clinton issue a call for more women to get involved in politics.

That interview occurred in 2012. According to The Hill, Trump’s team did not provide context for when Haley made the comment.
The attack also came after Haley also criticized Trump during Wednesday’s GOP debate in California.
“This is where President Trump went wrong,” Haley said during the event. “He focused on trade with China. He didn’t focus on the fact that they were buying up our farmland. He didn’t focus on the fact that they were killing Americans.”
“He didn’t focus on the fact that they were stealing $600 billion in intellectual property. He didn’t focus on the fact that they put a spy base off our shores in Cuba,” she continued.
Trump responded on Friday with a comment on Truth Social, his social media platform.

“MAGA, or I, will never go for Birdbrain Nikki Haley,” Trump posted. “No loyalty, plenty of lies!”
“‘I will never run against our great President,’ she said, ‘he has done an outstanding job.’ To which I responded, ‘How nice of you to say, Nikki,’ knowing full well that her words mean nothing,” Trump continued. “She even came to Mar-a-Lago with her family, ‘bearing gifts.’”
“Anyway,” he concluded, “Birdbrain doesn’t have the TALENT or TEMPERAMENT to do the job. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
