Former President Donald Trump’s camp quashed the buzz that his running mate in 2024 will be former Democrat Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Even before the first vote in the Iowa caucuses, Trump said earlier this month that he knew whom his vice presidential choice would be. Trump’s campaign tried to douse the speculation after he made the announcement during a Fox News interview.

The rumors have kicked up again more recently, as Trump posted big wins in Iowa and New Hampshire and drove all of his competition from the race except for former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley.

Some of the names supposedly on Trump’s list for No. 2 included Haley as well as Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, Florida Rep. Byron Donalds and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.

Another name in the mix was Kennedy, the son of a senator and nephew of a president who remains the most visible member of the iconic Democratic political family.

Kennedy is in the race as an independent, and polls indicate he pulls more support from incumbent President Joe Biden than Trump.

The New York Post, citing an unnamed Trump “insider,” reported on Saturday that Trump had considered inviting RFK Jr. to join him almost as soon as Kennedy got in.

“Trump operatives expressed an interest in Kennedy early on, but it was all premature,” the source told the Post. The tipster added that happened “right out of the box when Bobby announced” in April 2023 that he was running for president. The source also told the Post of a Trump-RFK ticket, “Anything’s possible. I wouldn’t write it off by any means.”

Yet Trump’s camp did just that.

Breitbart News noted on Sunday that Chris LaCivita, a longtime GOP political strategist and current Trump campaign adviser, dismissed the claims that RFK Jr. would be Trump’s running mate.

“This is 100% FAKE NEWS – NO ONE from the Trump Campaign ever approached RFK jr (or ever will) – one of the most LIBERAL and radical environmentalists in the country. For all the fake news-  update your stories,” LaCivita posted on X late Saturday night.
