President-elect Donald J. Trump announced today the creation of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), to be led by tech mogul Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. The initiative is aimed at dismantling government bureaucracy, slashing regulations, and eliminating wasteful spending as part of Trump’s broader “Save America” movement.
“I am pleased to announce that the great Elon Musk, working with American patriot Vivek Ramaswamy, will spearhead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE),” Trump said in a statement. “Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies – Essential to the “Save America” Movement.”

Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, described the project as a transformative effort that could be likened to “The Manhattan Project” of government reform. “This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in government waste should take notice,” Musk stated.
The newly formed department will operate outside traditional government channels, working closely with the White House and the Office of Management & Budget to drive large-scale structural changes. The goal, according to Trump, is to inject an entrepreneurial spirit into federal operations and significantly cut back on waste and fraud in the government’s $6.5 trillion annual budget.
“I look forward to Elon and Vivek making changes to the Federal Bureaucracy with an eye on efficiency and, at the same time, making life better for all Americans. Importantly, we will drive out the massive waste and fraud which exists throughout our annual $6.5 Trillion Dollars of Government Spending,” Trump added. “They will work together to liberate our Economy, and make the U.S. Government accountable to “WE THE PEOPLE.” Their work will conclude no later than July 4, 2026 – A smaller Government, with more efficiency and less bureaucracy, will be the perfect gift to America on the 250th Anniversary of The Declaration of Independence. I am confident they will succeed!”

The project is set to conclude by July 4, 2026, aligning with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Trump expressed confidence in the duo’s ability to deliver a smaller, more efficient government as a “perfect gift” to the American people.
