Former President Donald Trump is slated to record an interview with popular podcaster Joe Rogan on Friday at Rogan’s Austin, Texas studio. This appearance marks Trump’s first time on Rogan’s show, which has more than 14 million followers on Spotify and frequently tops national podcast ratings.

Though this will be Trump’s first time on Rogan’s podcast, their relationship has been complicated. In August, Trump publicly criticized Rogan after the podcaster praised Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and claimed that most politicians are manipulative, except for Kennedy.

Trump reacted by posting on Truth Social, “It will be interesting to see how loudly Joe Rogan gets BOOED the next time he enters the UFC Ring??? MAGA2024.” Rogan later clarified that while he didn’t endorse RFK Jr., he appreciated Kennedy’s policies.

Despite past tensions, Rogan has recently spoken more favorably of Trump, acknowledging the success of the economy during Trump’s presidency and his efforts to cut through political “nonsense.” The two have also had friendly exchanges at UFC events in recent months and share mutual allies, including RFK Jr., who has since endorsed Trump, and billionaire Elon Musk.

Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris will also be in Texas on Friday for a rally in Houston, focusing on abortion rights.

Her appearance comes as Democratic Rep. Colin Allred is challenging Sen. Ted Cruz in the Senate race. Texas, which has one of the nation’s strictest abortion bans, went for Trump over President Biden by more than five points in 2020.

While Harris is not expected to win Texas in 2024, Democrats remain hopeful that Allred has a chance in the Senate race. Texas has not had a Democratic U.S. senator since 1993.

The upcoming interview with Rogan continues Trump’s efforts to engage with media outlets that appeal to younger demographics, as he seeks to broaden his support base ahead of the 2024 election.
