President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he is revoking the security clearances of President Joe Biden and discontinuing his access to daily intelligence briefings. Trump made the announcement via a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, citing a precedent set by Biden in 2021.
“There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information. Therefore, we are immediately revoking Joe Biden’s Security Clearances, and stopping his daily Intelligence Briefings,” Trump wrote. “He set this precedent in 2021, when he instructed the Intelligence Community (IC) to stop the 45th President of the United States (ME!) from accessing details on National Security, a courtesy provided to former Presidents.”

Trump’s decision comes amid ongoing political tensions between the two leaders. In 2021, Biden’s administration halted Trump’s access to classified intelligence briefings, a tradition typically extended to former presidents.
At the time, Biden’s team cited concerns about Trump’s handling of sensitive information, particularly in the aftermath of the January 6 Capitol riot.

In his Truth Social post, Trump also referenced the recently released Hur Report, which questioned Biden’s memory and ability to handle classified information. “The Hur Report revealed that Biden suffers from ‘poor memory’ and, even in his ‘prime,’ could not be trusted with sensitive information. I will always protect our National Security — JOE, YOU’RE FIRED. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump wrote.
A senior administration official confirmed that the process to revoke Biden’s access to classified information is already underway.
