Trump Makes Campaign Pledge To Free J6 ‘Hostages’ As His Side Of The Story Gets A Boost

In a post on Truth Social, Trump’s social media platform, the presumptive Republican Party presidential nominee laid out his top priorities if elected in November.

“My first acts as your next President will be to Close the Border, DRILL, BABY, DRILL, and Free the January 6 Hostages being wrongfully imprisoned,” Trump posted.

Trump has routinely referenced those hunted down and jailed by President Joe Biden’s Justice Department as “hostages.” But his post comes with a new wrinkle.

As The Epoch Times reported on Tuesday, “President Trump’s latest comments mark the first time he has suggested that releasing those imprisoned over the Jan. 6 breach would be a top priority and that he will take immediate action to do so if he wins the November election.”

But Trump’s comments also come as a new House report undercut the liberal narrative about Trump and his actions around and on Jan. 6, 2021.

House Administration Committee Chairman Barry Loudermilk on Monday released an initial report of his own investigation into former Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s hand-picked J6 special committee.

The Georgia Republican’s findings included that Trump on Jan. 3, 2021, approved a request from the Washington, D.C., government for National Guard support for J6. His staff discussed the idea of 10,000 troops.

The report also noted that congressional staff slow-walked a request for National Guard assistance by the chief of the U.S. Capitol Police. One reason was that House staff did not believe Pelosi would approve such a request.

The other news that boosted Trump’s side of the story this week also came on Monday.

The New York Times reported on a newly released transcript of the Secret Service driver who drove Trump around the site of the riot on J6.

Two years ago, Cassidy Hutchinson, a former Trump White House, testified that as the riot erupted, a belligerent Trump screamed to be taken to the Capitol. When his security detail denied his request, for concern of being able to adequately protect him, Hutchison told the J6 committee that the then-president lunged at the driver, grabbed the steering wheel of his limo and tried to reverse course.

Yet according to the driver’s actual account, that never happened.

“The president was insistent on going to the Capitol,” the driver recalled, adding, “It was clear to me he wanted to go to the Capitol. He was not screaming.”

“He never grabbed the steering wheel. I didn’t see him, you know, lunge to try to get into the front seat at all,” the unnamed driver continued in his testimony. “You know, what stood out was the irritation in his voice, more than his physical presence.”
