President Trump’s Twitter account has seen over 223,000 followers drop off. According to Factba.se, a site that uses automation software to measure President Trump’s Twitter activity and follower count, the president hit an all high of 88,964,791 followers on Nov. 17th, 2020.
Since November 18th, Trump’s verified account has faltered for 18 consecutive days, net loss in followers on the social media messaging platform. The biggest drop came on November 25th with 20,751 Twitter followers dropping off.
On Thursday, a Twitter spokesperson told Forbes that Trump could eventually be banned from Twitter, as Twitter’s “World Leaders policy currently protects the president.” However, on January 20th, Trump will need to follow the same guidelines as regular citizens or risk banishment.
Biden has seen an increase of 1,579,870 followers on Twitter since the benchmark date of Nov 17th, 2020.
How many of these are spam, bot, or fake accounts for both of these accounts? Who knows, but Twitter routinely scrubs their database of bot accounts that tend to follow higher profile people, like celebrity’s and politicians.
