Former President Donald Trump is ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris in Georgia as the 2024 election approaches. According to a poll released Tuesday by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC), Trump holds 47% of the support, while Harris trails at 43%, a lead that falls outside the poll’s margin of error of 3.1 percentage points. The poll also revealed that 8% of likely voters remain undecided.

Georgia, a pivotal battleground state for the upcoming election, began early voting on October 15. As reported by WALB, a record 196,000 residents cast their ballots in the first week. The state has over seven million active voters.

A Georgia judge ruled on October 15 to block a regulation related to hand-counting ballots on election day, following concerns that it might delay the release of results.

While Trump holds a lead in several battleground states, the race remains competitive. According to polling averages from RealClear Polling, Trump leads by 1.2 points across seven key battleground states, securing 48.4% support compared to Harris’s 47.2%. However, on the national stage, Harris is ahead by 0.8 points, with 49.3% support against Trump’s 48.5%, according to the same source.

Trump has made notable gains among Black voters, a crucial demographic the Democrats are actively working to solidify in support of Harris. Concerns have emerged within the party about the enthusiasm of this voting group.

Morgan Ackley, Georgia Communications Director for the Trump campaign, commented, “The latest polling reflects what we’ve known: Georgians are fed up with rising costs and issues like drug trafficking. President Trump’s message resonates, and this November, Georgia will reject Kamala Harris in favor of Trump’s America First policies.”
