In a bold step to reassert U.S. air dominance, President Donald Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth unveiled the F-47, the United States’ first sixth-generation fighter jet, during remarks from the White House on Thursday.

Calling it a “historic day for American military strength,” Trump announced that the U.S. Air Force will move forward with full-scale production of the F-47, a next-generation stealth fighter designed to surpass all current global aviation technology.

“I’m thrilled to announce that, at my direction, the United States Air Force is moving forward with the world’s first sixth-generation fighter jet,” Trump declared. “The generals picked the title — F-47. It’s a beautiful number.”

Trump described the F-47 as “virtually unseeable”, equipped with cutting-edge stealth capabilities, a top speed over Mach 2, unmatched maneuverability, and “the most powerful payload ever integrated into a jet of its kind.”

“This is something the likes of which nobody has seen before,” he said. “From speed to maneuverability to payload — there’s never been anything even close.”

According to Trump, an experimental prototype has been secretly in testing for nearly five years, and the aircraft has already proven its superiority over every known adversarial platform.

“This is level six,” Trump emphasized. “Level five was good. This is next level.”

After what Trump called a “very tough competition” among top aerospace companies, the Department of Defense awarded the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) contract to Boeing, marking a major win for the company and a shift in the future of American air power.

The aircraft will be produced and deployed during Trump’s current term, with many components and facilities already in place.

“We’ve given an order for a lot,” Trump said. “We can’t tell you the price because it would give away technology details, but it’s a good-sized plane.”

Trump said America’s allies have already expressed interest in purchasing the jet, though the U.S. plans to offer “toned-down versions” for export to protect national security interests.

“Someday, maybe they’re not our allies,” Trump joked, referencing the strategic need to limit sensitive technology.

The contract represents a historic investment in the U.S. defense industrial base, with benefits extending to American manufacturing, research and development, and defense readiness.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth followed Trump’s remarks with praise for the administration’s commitment to rebuilding the military and restoring U.S. global dominance.

“This is a big day for our warfighters, our country, and the world,” Hegseth said. “Mr. President, because of your leadership, this sixth-generation fighter ensures generations of air dominance.”

Hegseth traced the evolution of American air power — from the F-15 to the F-35 — culminating in the F-47.

“This is a gift to my kids, your kids, our grandkids,” he said. “The previous administration paused this program. They were prepared to scrap it. Under President Trump, we’re no longer looking like fools — we’re leading again.”

Trump also noted a dramatic increase in military enlistment since his return to office, attributing the trend to renewed morale and the administration’s support for defense personnel.

“We’ve had record numbers of people wanting to join our military,” he said. “Six months ago, it was the opposite.”

The F-47 will now move into full production, with initial units expected to enter service within the next 24 months. Defense analysts say the jet will revolutionize American air superiority and redefine modern warfare.

As adversaries continue investing in hypersonic and unmanned technologies, the F-47 aims to ensure that the United States remains unmatched in the skies — both in firepower and deterrence.

“Our enemies won’t know what hit them,” Trump said. “But hopefully, we won’t ever have to use it.”
