Former President Donald Trump’s estate in Palm Beach has not been sold, the online real estate company Zillow admitted amid rumors that Trump may have been unloading assets ahead of his recent arrest in Georgia.
Clarifying its reporting from earlier in the day, Newsweek noted on Friday afternoon that Zillow had backtracked from its original listing that Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate had been sold. The alleged $422 million sale supposedly occurred on Aug. 4.
Newsweek then speculated that instead of a sale, ownership of the exclusive property had been transferred to Don Trump Jr. That prompted an MSNBC analyst to claim that the deal was “fraudulent,” which also was not true.

Both of Trump’s sons immediately denounced the report.
“I woke up this morning to numerous media reports claiming that my dad transferred ownership of Mar-A-Lago to me, and while anyone would love to be gifted one of the most beautiful properties in the entire world, it is nothing more than total and complete fake news,” Don Jr. told Breitbart News.
“A lot of media outlets should be embarrassed with themselves for running such a phony story, but we all know that most of them won’t even retract their reports because they have no shame. SAD!”
Eric Trump, speaking on behalf of the Trump Organization, said in a statement, “Mar-a-Lago has absolutely not been sold nor will it ever be. This rumor is asinine.”
Amid the denials, both Zillow and Newsweek corrected the report.

“Zillow strives for accuracy on our site and if we become aware of inaccurate information, we will update it immediately. After an investigation, it appears that the information provided was incorrect. We’ve corrected the information on this property,” the company said in a statement to Newsweek.
Newsweek subsequently noted, “The [Zillow] listing has since been updated from ‘sold’ to ‘off market.’”
The elder Trump was arrested and booked in Fulton County, Georgia, on Thursday on charges he wrought to illegally overturn the results of the 2020 election. The former president is expected to formally enter a plea next month.
