Several of President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees and administration appointees were targeted by violent threats, including bomb threats and “swatting” incidents, late last night and early this morning.

These acts of intimidation prompted a rapid response from law enforcement and other authorities to ensure the safety of those affected.

Trump-Vance Transition spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt condemned the threats in a statement, calling them “unAmerican threats to their lives and those who live with them.”

“Last night and this morning, several of President Trump’s Cabinet nominees and Administration appointees were targeted in violent, unAmerican threats to their lives and those who live with them. These attacks ranged from bomb threats to ‘swatting.’ In response, law enforcement and other authorities acted quickly to ensure the safety of those who were targeted,” said Leavitt.

“President Trump and the entire Transition team are grateful for the swift action of law enforcement and authorities who acted to protect those targeted,” Leavitt said. “President Trump and the Transition are focused on doing the work of uniting our nation by ensuring a safe and prosperous future. With President Trump as our example, dangerous acts of intimidation and violence will not deter us.”

The threats included bomb scares and “swatting” incidents — false emergency calls intended to provoke a heavy law enforcement response to an individual’s location. While details about the specific targets remain limited, authorities confirmed that safety measures were promptly implemented.

The FBI said it was taking the threats “seriously.”

“The FBI is aware of numerous bomb threats and swatting incidents targeting incoming administration nominees and appointees, and we are working with our law enforcement partners. We take all potential threats seriously, and as always, encourage members of the public to immediately report anything they consider suspicious to law enforcement,” the agency said in a statement.

The Trump-Vance Transition team reiterated its focus on moving forward despite these challenges, underscoring its commitment to unity and national progress in the face of adversity.
