President-elect Donald Trump issued a scathing critique of current U.S. leadership, citing what he described as a national crisis stemming from open border policies and ineffective governance.
In a strongly worded statement on X, Trump accused the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and state and local prosecutors of neglecting their duties to protect Americans, focusing instead on politically motivated investigations against him.

“Our country is a disaster, a laughing stock all over the world!” Trump declared. He attributed the perceived breakdown in national security to “weak, ineffective, and virtually nonexistent leadership,” adding that violent elements have infiltrated both the government and the nation itself.
Trump’s remarks included a call for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to intervene in addressing what he called the infiltration of “violent scum” into the U.S. government. “The CIA must get involved, NOW, before it is too late,” he said, asserting that the agency’s expertise is needed to combat threats he believes are being overlooked by other federal entities.
While the CIA traditionally focuses on foreign intelligence and threats, Trump’s call for their involvement in domestic matters raises questions about the scope and legality of such actions. Domestic operations by the CIA are heavily restricted under U.S. law, with agencies like the FBI designated to handle internal threats.

Trump linked the challenges facing the U.S. to open border policies, which he described as allowing unchecked movement across international boundaries. Critics of such policies argue they can strain public resources and complicate national security efforts. Trump claimed these policies have enabled criminal elements to exploit the system, threatening safety and stability.
“Only strength and powerful leadership will stop it,” Trump stated, positioning himself as the solution to what he characterized as a crisis in governance. He vowed to address the issues head-on after his inauguration on January 20, promising to “Make America Great Again.”
Trump’s remarks come amidst heightened political tensions, with his accusations of corruption and incompetence directed at his political opponents and government institutions. “The DOJ, FBI, and Democrat state and local prosecutors have not done their job,” he asserted, accusing them of spending their time on politically motivated investigations rather than addressing pressing national security concerns.
Such rhetoric risks further polarizing the political landscape, potentially complicating efforts to foster bipartisan cooperation on national security matters. Critics of Trump’s statements warn that branding opponents as “scum” and calling for intelligence agencies to step into domestic issues could erode trust in government institutions and fuel division.
As Trump prepares to take office, his comments underscore the challenges of addressing immigration, national security, and governance in a deeply divided political environment.
His call for CIA involvement and critique of open borders reflect a broader narrative of prioritizing strict border controls and enhanced national security measures.
Trump’s remarks set the stage for what is expected to be a contentious policy debate in the months ahead. With January 20 fast approaching, the nation waits to see how his administration plans to tackle these pressing issues.
