Effective today, the Trump administration has officially terminated the CBP One app’s functionalities that previously allowed undocumented migrants to schedule appointments at designated southwest border ports of entry.

“Effective January 20, 2025, the functionalities of CBP One™ that previously allowed undocumented aliens to submit advance information and schedule appointments at eight southwest border ports of entry is no longer available, and existing appointments have been canceled,” says the CBP One App website.

The move immediately cancels all existing appointments, leaving approximately 270,000 migrants on the Mexican side of the border, CBS reported.

The CBP One app, launched under the Biden administration in January 2023, was designed as a legal pathway for migrants seeking asylum in the United States.

It allowed individuals from countries such as Haiti and Venezuela to request appointments for processing at legal entry points. Since its inception, nearly 919,000 migrants have entered the U.S. through the system, according to an internal government report.

President Donald J. Trump, sworn in earlier today, made it clear during his campaign that his administration would take immediate and decisive action to curb illegal immigration and tighten border security.

One of his first executive actions included shutting down the CBP One app, which he and his incoming Secretary of Homeland Security nominee, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, have criticized as an “open invitation” for migrants to enter the U.S.

“Effective immediately, the abuse of our asylum system stops,” Trump stated during his inauguration speech. “We are restoring order at the border and putting American sovereignty first.”

As the Trump administration implements its broader immigration agenda, including the reinstatement of policies such as “Remain in Mexico,” increased deportation efforts are expected to begin as soon as today.
