Cannabis giant Trulieve continues to bankroll the push for recreational marijuana in Florida, contributing another $7.5 million last week to the Smart & Safe Florida political committee. This brings the company’s total contributions to nearly $83 million, according to the latest finance report.
As of August 30, the Smart & Safe Florida committee had raised a total of $90.22 million and spent $62.4 million. The majority of this funding, $82.89 million, has come directly from Trulieve since 2022.

The proposed constitutional amendment, known as Amendment 3, would allow adults 21 and over to possess and use marijuana for non-medical purposes. It will appear on the November ballot.
This move comes after Florida voters approved medical marijuana in 2016. Trulieve’s substantial financial backing underscores the high stakes in the battle to legalize recreational marijuana in the state.
