As Florida nears a decision on recreational marijuana legalization, cannabis company Trulieve has contributed another $1.5 million to the Smart & Safe Florida committee, the main group backing the measure.
According to a finance report filed Thursday, Trulieve’s total cash and in-kind contributions to the committee now amount to nearly $144.6 million.
The Smart & Safe Florida committee, formed in 2022, has raised a total of $152.27 million in cash and $959,000 in in-kind contributions, according to the state Division of Elections website.

The committee is sponsoring Amendment 3, the “Adult Personal Use of Marijuana” proposal, which appears on Tuesday’s ballot.
If approved, Amendment 3 would permit adults 21 and older to “possess, purchase, or use marijuana products and marijuana accessories for non-medical personal consumption by smoking, ingestion, or otherwise.”
In 2016, Florida voters passed a constitutional amendment allowing medical marijuana. However, Governor Ron DeSantis is actively campaigning against Amendment 3, and state agencies have launched TV ads to dissuade voters from supporting recreational marijuana legalization.
