A tropical wave currently moving across the central Tropical Atlantic Ocean is showing signs of potential development. While the system is currently producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms, favorable environmental conditions could lead to the formation of a tropical depression by early next week.

The system is expected to continue moving westward at 10 to 15 mph and approach the Lesser Antilles.

It is then forecast to track westward to west-northwestward across parts of the eastern Caribbean Sea during the middle of next week.

The National Hurricane Center has assessed the formation chance through 48 hours as low, near 0 percent, and the formation chance through 7 days as medium, at 40 percent.

Residents in the Lesser Antilles and eastern Caribbean Sea are advised to monitor the progress of this system.
