The National Hurricane Center is monitoring several areas of potential tropical development in the Atlantic basin.
A tropical wave is currently bringing disorganized showers and thunderstorms over Hispaniola and the central Caribbean Sea. This system is projected to move westward and could strengthen into a tropical depression as it reaches the western Caribbean and southwestern Gulf of Mexico late this week or over the weekend.

A tropical wave located in the far eastern Atlantic is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Conditions are expected to become slightly more favorable for development, and a tropical depression could form later this week as the system moves slowly west-northwestward or northwestward. This system could impact portions of the Cabo Verde Islands with locally heavy rain and gusty winds in the next day or two.

Another tropical wave is situated about midway between the west coast of Africa and the Lesser Antilles, also producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Slow development is possible over the next few days as the system moves west-northwestward. However, environmental conditions are expected to become less favorable for development by the end of the week.
