3-Dead in Westchase Crash, HCSO Investigating

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed three people in Westchase.

On Tuesday, at approximately 5:00 a.m., a 2020 silver Chevy Malibu, traveling northbound on Sheldon Road, ran a red light and was struck on the left backside by a 2017 white Nissan Altima traveling eastbound on West Linebaugh Avenue. The impact caused the Chevy Malibu to lose control and collide against a pole. All three occupants were ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

The driver of the Nissan Altima was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with serious injuries.

Multiple lanes at West Linebaugh and Sheldon Avenue are closed. This is an active and ongoing investigation. “We extend our deepest sympathy to the families of these three victims who lost their lives in this terrible accident,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “I urge all drivers to use caution on the roadways and obey traffic laws to avoid these tragic losses.”
