Trio Of GOP Lawmakers Sue Pelosi For No-Mask Fines

Perplexed liberals who cannot understand why we’re afflicted vaccine “hesitancy” – hesitancy which many of them shared when former President Donald Trump was in charge of the vaccines – should consider a single image.

It is, as was reported in The Free Press on Wednesday, the photo of Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi berating her Republican counterpart, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, as a “moron” for denouncing the idea of new masking mandates.

Pelosi, who was once busted for taking a private hair appointment in violation of California’s lockdown policy, made this comment while surrounded by a security detail and reporters, and not wearing a mask.

Now, three Republicans want to make Pelosi answer for her own mask policy.

Reps. Thomas Massie, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Ralph Norman are taking Pelosi to court after being fined for not abiding by Pelosi’s policy to wear a mask on the House floor, according to The Washington Times.

The lawsuit was filed on Tuesday after Pelosi had denied their appeals. Also named as defendants were House Sergeant at Arms William Walker and Chief Administrative Officer Catherine Szpindor.

“We’re 18 months into this, and they’re still trying to use emergency executive power instead of going back to legislatures and passing laws,” Massie told the Times. “It’s about the principle, but the principle is broader. It’s the whole country.”

Massie maintains that the fines are unconstitutional. Since the fines were taken out of their salaries, Massie said, it violates the 27th Amendment’s provision banning changes to lawmakers’ salaries in the middle of a session.

The lawsuit, according to the Times, says, “The 27th Amendment is, at its heart, an anti-corruption measure, designed to prevent Congress from increasing, decreasing or limiting compensation as a cudgel against political opponents. Despite this clear and unequivocal prohibition, that is precisely what occurred in this matter.”

For her part, Greene told the Times she’s attacking Pelosi as a hypocrite, and believes Pelosi, in turn, was only going after Republicans.

“It’s nothing but a big show,” she told the Times. “It’s not about COVID at all. It’s all about her having the gavel on her hand, and her being able to control everybody on the cameras.”

All three were fined $500 for the violation.

Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reported that on Wednesday several Republicans, include Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida and Lauren Boebert of Colorado, audaciously violated the rule and went maskless on took the House floor.
