POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A reported armed disturbance at a Davenport bar on Thursday, February 20, 2025, led to the arrests of three men on a variety of charges, including aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and battery on a law enforcement officer. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) described the incident as “chaotic” but ultimately “manageable.”

Deputies responded to the bar on US 27 at approximately 10:24 PM after receiving reports of an armed disturbance. The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Carlos Boria Rivera of Polk City, was detained after allegedly attempting to flee the scene.

According to the PCSO, Rivera had been involved in a physical altercation with another patron and had pointed a gun at the man. Rivera was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon in a prohibited area, possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia, and battery.

While deputies were investigating the initial incident, 49-year-old Brandon Weaver of Davenport repeatedly interrupted them, demanding to leave because his vehicle was blocked by a patrol car. Despite being warned multiple times to stop interfering, Weaver continued to argue and was eventually arrested and placed in a patrol car. He was charged with resisting arrest.

Simultaneously, 36-year-old Luis Colon Gaud of Davenport was acting belligerently inside the bar. Bar staff requested that he be trespassed from the property. A deputy informed Gaud of the request and warned him that he would be arrested if he did not leave.

Gaud initially complied, but returned to the bar through a back door approximately 25 minutes later. When a deputy detained him, Gaud allegedly kicked two deputies.

He was charged with two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting with violence, resisting without violence, trespassing, and disorderly intoxication.

All three men were arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail.
