TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. – The Treasure Island Police Department (TIPD) is set to maintain its accredited status with Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc., demonstrating its ongoing commitment to upholding the highest professional standards.

TIPD first received accreditation in 2021 after a rigorous process. To maintain this status, the department undergoes reaccreditation every three years, which involves a comprehensive self-assessment and on-site evaluation by the Commission for Florida Accreditation (CFA). TIPD recently completed its on-site assessment and is now recommended for reaccreditation.

“The accreditation process assures the community and the department that we are operating as efficiently and effectively as possible,” stated Treasure Island Police Chief John Barkley. “I am very proud of every member of our agency, as this is a coveted award that symbolizes professionalism, excellence, and competence, which is exactly what TIPD wants to bring to both the residents and visitors of Treasure Island.”

Accreditation standards encompass various aspects of law enforcement operations, including relationships with other agencies, organization, management, law enforcement operations, detainee services, and technical services.
