SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A 36-year-old woman from Sumterville narrowly escaped injury after her Toyota Highlander was struck by a freight train on Noble Avenue, east of US-301.
According to reports from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 6:42 AM as the woman drove eastbound on Noble Avenue.

Upon noticing the activated railroad warning lights and crossing arms, she attempted a U-turn at the crossing, partially entering the train’s path.
The resulting collision caused damage to the right rear portion of the Highlander. Fortunately, neither the driver nor the train personnel sustained any injuries.
