HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A routine traffic stop on Cortez Boulevard in Hernando County resulted in the arrest of two individuals on drug and other charges on Monday.

Hernando County Sheriff’s Deputy D. Castoria initiated the stop after noticing a vehicle without a functioning tag light. During the stop, the driver initially provided a false name, raising suspicion. A search of the vehicle uncovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The passenger, Valerie Rix, then admitted to concealing additional drugs, including methamphetamine and crack cocaine, at the driver’s request. The driver, later identified as David Lewis, also admitted to providing false information and driving with a revoked license.

Both individuals were arrested and face multiple charges, including drug possession, tampering with evidence, and driving with a suspended license.
