MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – Two men are facing felony charges after a traffic stop in Key Largo uncovered a significant amount of fentanyl.
On Friday evening, deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office stopped a Chevrolet sedan near Mile Marker 106 for multiple traffic violations, including failure to maintain a lane, passing into oncoming traffic, and following too closely.

A K9 unit was deployed, and K9 Mako alerted to the presence of narcotics within the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed approximately 4.8 ounces of fentanyl.
The driver, 43-year-old Keyonbie Nashamba Humphrey of Key West, and the passenger, 40-year-old Shane Jarell Smith of Homestead, were both arrested and charged with fentanyl trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were taken to the Monroe County Jail.
