The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has announced a series of lane closures and traffic shifts scheduled for the week of April 28th through May 3rd in Pasco and Hernando Counties due to ongoing roadwork and construction projects.
Motorists are advised to plan their commutes accordingly and exercise caution in the affected areas.
Pasco County:
Several major roadways in Pasco County will experience disruptions next week:
- US 19 (approaching and through San Marco Drive / Johnson Road intersection): Expect lane closures in either direction from Monday, April 28th through Friday, May 2nd, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
- US 19 (between Elizabeth Avenue and Edna Avenue): Motorists will encounter lane closures in either direction during daytime hours, from Monday, April 28th through Friday, May 2nd, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
- US 41 (Land O’ Lakes Blvd) (from north of Willow Bend Parkway / County Line Road to Bell Lake Road): Nighttime lane closures are scheduled from Sunday, April 27th through Thursday, May 1st, between 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- US 98 (between CR 54 and Janmar Road): Drivers should be prepared for periodic lane closures and flagging operations from Monday, April 28th through Friday, May 2nd, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

- US 98 (Dade City Bypass) (from River Road to Meridian Avenue): A significant closure is in effect. The southbound lanes are closed and detoured to 7th Street 24 hours per day through approximately October 2025. Motorists should follow posted detour signs.
- SR 54 (from east of Little Road to Marathon Road): Expect daytime lane closures from Monday, April 28th through Saturday, May 3rd, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Additionally, nighttime lane closures are scheduled from Sunday, April 27th through Friday, May 2nd, between 10 p.m. and 6:30 a.m.
- SR 54 (from US 41 to west of Knight Road): Lane closures are anticipated from Monday, April 28th through Friday, May 2nd, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Hernando County:
Roadwork will also impact travel in Hernando County:
- US 98 / SR 50 (Cortez Blvd.) (from east of Mondon Hill Rd / Spring Lake Highway to Lockhart Road): Expect lane closures in either direction from Monday, April 28th through Friday, May 2nd, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
- SR 50 (Cortez Blvd.) / SR 50 A (W Jefferson Street) / Cobb Road intersection: This intersection will experience significant disruption with one lane closed in each direction approaching and through the intersection 24 hours per day through approximately May 2025. Additionally, traffic flagging operations and traffic shifts are scheduled for Sunday, April 27th from 7 p.m. to Monday, April 28th at 4 a.m.

- SR 50 Bypass (Cortez Blvd.) (from north of the Cobb Road/Cortez Blvd./Jefferson Street intersection to Buck Hope Road): The southbound lanes will have lane closures from Monday, April 28th through Friday, May 2nd, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
- SR 50 (Cortez Blvd) (from Ridge Manor Boulevard to Riverland Clay Sink Road): Motorists should anticipate day periodic flagging and brief traffic stops from Monday, April 28th through Friday, May 2nd, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Similar night periodic flagging and brief traffic stops are scheduled from Sunday, April 27th through Thursday, May 1st, between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.
FDOT urges drivers to remain patient, follow all posted signs, and allow extra time for their commutes through these work zones.
