TAMPA, Fl. – A Tornado Watch has been issued for the Tampa Bay Area until 5 p.m.
According to the NWS, a strong cold front will move into the area Thursday bringing with it gusty winds and rain throughout the day.Â
The Tampa Bay area has a possibility to see damaging winds and isolated tornados/waterspouts.
A cold front extending from the Florida Panhandle to S of Tampico, Mexico, will move east across the Gulf, accompanied by a band of strong thunderstorms into tonight. Fresh to strong southerly winds will continue ahead of the front. Strong to gale force W to NW winds and seas over 8 ft are expected over northern Gulf waters through Friday.
A stationary front is over Florida and the NE Gulf generating scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms. This front will lift northward into the the western Atlantic by this evening.
