Tom Homan Says He ‘Sleeps Like A Baby’ As He Disrupts Dem Mayor’s Peace Over Migrant Policies

Border czar Tom Homan condemned Democratic leaders on Fox News Wednesday for their support of sanctuary city policies, which he says jeopardize public safety.

Democratic Mayors Michelle Wu of Boston, Brandon Johnson of Chicago, Mike Johnston of Denver, and Eric Adams of New York City appeared before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to discuss their cities’ policies of non-cooperation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

During an appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” Homan responded to statements made by those mayors, including Wu, saying that sanctuary policies make cities safer.

“I didn’t see that hearing, but thank you for playing that because now I want to sleep like a baby. Because if I get to live in her mind rent-free every day, that’s kind of cool. I love my job. I work for the greatest president in my lifetime,” Homan told Laura Ingraham. “We’re making America safe again. President Trump promised the American people that we’re going to shut down illegal alien crime in this country. That’s exactly what we’re doing. Mayor Wu should be standing side by side with me.”

“We took two murderers off the streets of Chicago. Is that city safer? We took child predators off the streets of Chicago. Does that make that city safer? We took, I think it was, seven or nine TDA (Tren De Aragua) members off the streets of Chicago. Does that make that city safer? Look, he’s ignorant, and these mayors just don’t get it. President Trump made a promise. We’re going to prioritize public safety threats and national security threats,” Homan said.

Homan then said that under his administration, ICE made approximately 30,000 arrests.

“We’re at about 30,000 arrests. Most of them are public safety threats. There are some collaterals, and why is that? Because people like him and the mayor of Boston and the mayor of Denver, they don’t let us arrest the bad guy in the safety and security of the county jail where the officer is safe, the alien is safe, the community is safe,” Homan said. “They release him in the community. So we got to go to the community and find him. And when we find that bad guy, if he’s with other illegal aliens that aren’t a criminal threat, but they’re in the country illegally, they’re going too.”

The conversation dived deeper into criticism from Democrats, including comments from Democratic California Rep. Maxine Waters who accused President Donald Trump of exploiting victims’ families for political gain.

“Give me a break. Americans are dying. I’ve met hundreds of angel moms and dads who buried their children. Another congressman talked to the architect of family separation. Yeah, we separated families, but we prosecuted parents, and the children can’t go to jail with them,” Homan added. “That happens to U.S. citizen parents hundreds of times across this country every day. But they don’t talk about the half a million children that were trafficked into this country. They can’t find 300,000 of them during sex trafficking and forced labor.”

ICE has detained several sex offenders who were previously released by Massachusetts authorities, despite requests for holding them for deportation. For instance, in June 2024, ICE agents apprehended a 24-year-old Guatemalan illegal immigrant in Bristol County, who was out on bail for charges of child rape. In April 2024, they took custody of a repeat public lewdness offender from the Cape Verde Islands.

In a November 21 interview with the Denverite, Johnston said that Denver’s residents and local law enforcement could oppose the Trump administration’s deportation efforts. During a Fox News appearance on Nov. 25, Homan, then Trump’s nominee for border czar, cited 8 USC 1324 (iii) and accused Johnston of being prepared to commit a felony to resist these efforts.
