BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A Titusville man’s ill-conceived attempts at invisibility landed him in jail on additional drug charges yesterday morning.

Deputies responded to a residence with a warrant for Brett Schultheis. Upon entering the home, they found Schultheis hiding behind his bedroom door, a tactic the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office humorously compared to “hiding behind a broomstick.”

Schultheis complied with deputies’ orders to come out but tried another unsuccessful maneuver, attempting to discreetly stash a clear plastic baggie behind a dresser. The baggie, containing approximately 1.5 grams of meth, was quickly discovered.

Schultheis, already facing an active warrant for violating probation for reckless driving involving a controlled substance, now faces an additional drug charge.

“Unfortunately for Schultheis, things didn’t work out in his favor as an illusionist and magician but on a bright note, he is now eligible for amateur night at “Jail’s Got Talent” at Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge that is held every Friday night immediately following chow and open shower time!!” said Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office lauded the deputies involved, stating, “Great job as always to the amazing men and women of our agency who work hard to keep our community safe and one of the best places in the country to call home!!”
