Few have captivated the public’s attention like Joe Exotic, also known as the Tiger King, in the world of true crime and eccentric characters.
From his larger-than-life personality to his involvement in a murder-for-hire plot, Joe Exotic’s story has been the subject of documentaries, news articles, and endless speculation.
Joe Exotic’s lastest saga finds him back in Florida at the Santa Rosa County Jail.
Joe Exotic, whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage, first gained notoriety as the owner of an Oklahoma wildlife park. He built a reputation for his flamboyant style, collection of big cats, and his online show, “Joe Exotic TV.”
However, his life took a dark turn when he became entangled in a murder-for-hire plot targeting Carole Baskin, an animal rights activist and the owner of Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Florida.
In 2017, Joe Exotic was arrested for attempting to hire a hitman to kill Carole Baskin. The plot unfolded through a series of conversations and interactions captured by an undercover FBI agent. Ultimately, Joe Exotic was found guilty and sentenced to 22 years in federal prison for his involvement in the murder-for-hire scheme.
Recently, Joe Exotic was transferred from his federal prison in Oklahoma to the Santa Rosa County Jail in Florida.

According to TMZ, Exotic was transferred to Santa Rosa County Jail to appear in court for a civil lawsuit involving a music dispute regarding songs played in the popular 2020 Tiger King documentary.
Vince Johnson, a country singer, claimed that he had the rights to some of the songs Joe Exotic played in the series.
