MARATHON, Fla. – Three men were arrested Friday evening following a physical altercation on 20th Street. While no life-threatening injuries were reported, the incident resulted in multiple charges.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspects as:
- Michael Scott Blair, 48, charged with battery.
- Kenneth Earl Sutton, 45, charged with aggravated assault.
- Howard Jeremiah Benedict, 37, charged with battery and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

According to authorities, the fight began around 7 p.m. after a motorist reportedly drove a van too close to the suspects’ tents. The motorist, who was later identified as the victim, told deputies that the three men grabbed him by the throat and punched him. The victim managed to escape and call for help.
All three suspects were arrested and transported to the Monroe County Jail. The Sheriff’s Office indicated that additional arrests and charges may follow as the investigation continues.
