A gunman opened fire at a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas on Friday, killing three people and wounding ten others, including two law enforcement officers.
The shooting occurred at the Mad Butcher grocery store around 11:30 AM. According to witnesses, the shooter entered the store and began firing indiscriminately. The two officers who were wounded were among those who responded to the scene and exchanged gunfire with the suspect.
The suspect, identified as Travis Eugene Posey, 44, of New Edinburg, Arkansas, was taken into custody after being shot by police. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries before being booked on three counts of capital murder.

The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
“Unfortunately, we can confirm that 11 innocent civilians were shot, and three of those are deceased. Two law enforcement officers were injured in the exchange of gunfire. The suspect was also shot and taken into custody,” Arkansas State Police Director Mike Hagar said.
“This is a tragic day for our community,” said Fordyce Police Chief Nathan Cook. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.”
Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson also released a statement, saying, “I am deeply saddened to learn of the tragic shooting in Fordyce today. My prayers are with the victims, their families, and the entire community.”
