HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A 45-year-old man from Thonotosassa was killed in a single-vehicle crash on US-301 early Wednesday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was driving a 2021 Kia Forte southbound on US-301, approaching Harney Road, when he failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree.

The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred during the early morning hours and was reported to the Florida Highway Patrol at 8:30 a.m. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
