TAMPA, Fla. – Kristina and Kirby Lavallee, owners of The Cake Girl, have turned their thriving business into a beacon of generosity for the Tampa Bay community. Through initiatives like their signature “Random Acts of Sweetness” and the annual “Fill the Van” campaign, the Lavallees have made philanthropy an integral part of their mission.
This year’s “Fill the Van” campaign was especially impactful, bringing relief and holiday cheer to over 20 families and Hillsborough County Children Services. In a year marked by economic strain, layoffs, and the aftermath of severe storms, the Lavallees and their supporters rose to the occasion, delivering hope and smiles to those in need.

Partnering with community activist Michelle Williams, Kristina and The Cake Girl collected stories from families across Tampa Bay. The outpouring of need was overwhelming.
“When I posted the call for help on social media, I received over 800 messages from families desperate for assistance,” Williams shared. “It was heartbreaking to read so many stories, but also uplifting to know we could make a difference. Choosing just over 20 families was one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make.”
Once the families were selected, Kristina and Kirby personally visited their homes, inviting children to step into the festive van and choose their favorite toys. The joy was palpable.
“The kids went wild, and their smiles were absolutely contagious,” said Kirby. “It’s moments like these that remind us why we do this.”
The campaign received strong support from local leaders, including entrepreneur and professional athlete Chris Frederick, attorney Martin Hernandez, and entrepreneurs Chris and Ashley Casey. Their contributions filled the van with toys, sporting equipment, toiletries, blankets, and gift cards. In addition to helping families, over $1,500 worth of goods and gifts were delivered to Hillsborough County Children Services.

“This is a time when community matters most,” said Kristina. “We’ve seen the need grow every year, and it’s incredible to see how much we can accomplish when we come together. We’re already planning to make an even bigger impact next year.”
The “Fill the Van” campaign is just one way The Cake Girl spreads kindness. Through their ongoing “Random Acts of Sweetness,” Kristina regularly surprises first responders, children, and families with cupcakes and treats, reminding the community that small acts of kindness can have a big impact.
“We believe in using our platform to bring joy and hope,” Kristina said. “Whether it’s handing out cupcakes to firefighters or making a child’s holiday brighter, giving back is part of who we are.”
As The Cake Girl continues to grow, so does the Lavallees’ dedication to their community. Plans for next year’s “Fill the Van” campaign are already in motion, with a goal of reaching even more families.
